Distinguished Foods Kitchen is a hidden gem in West Seattle. There are so many talented small businesses running and there is such an inspiring environment to be in. Claiborne Bell is absolutely wonderful, he took every opportunity and then some to assist me in whatever I needed - I would say he specializes in going above and beyond. I loved renting and operating my small meal prep company out of this rental kitchen. I would absolutley rent space here again!

West Seattle is so lucky to have a place like Distinguished Foods Kitchen in our neighborhood! What an amazing source of local and delicious foods. The owners are incredible and will do anything to help other businesses when they can. 5-stars, all around!

I rented shared kitchen space for my business from 2020-2022. It's a large space with a good amount of shared equipment making it a good fit for any food business that doesn't have the capitol to buy their own up front. For us the key factors that made me choose this kitchen were: the location (5mins from SODO and 15-20 minutes to downtown), the large Hobart mixers, the rolled-in utilities, 24hr access in our lease, and the large walk-in freezer. Our products were frozen and it's incredibly hard to find shared production spaces with a walk-in freezer vs reach-ins. The landlord can work with you on adding or moving equipment around based on your production needs. There are video camera within and without the space which does help with security concerns; though keeping an eye on your small goods is still important because dishonest people are everywhere. One downside (and the only reason I'm not leaving 4 vs 4.5 stars) is the age of the building and some of the equipment; but there's not much you can do about that. This does result in more competitive pricing over more modern facilities and the ease to get to downtown/SODO are big perks. The overall feeling within the building is one of camaraderie and support. I made life-long friends with other owners and their staff while running my pot pie business out of the space. The landlord's flexibility with regards to the need for more space and the addition of specialty equipment over time, allowed us to grow as needed. I still stop by often to say hello to the business owners I know that are still there and chat with the landlord, Claiborne, due to the bonds we've all formed. Claiborne's a funny guy with a ton of knowledge about the industry from having run the kitchen with his family for decades. He also produces his own products out of the space so he's a great resource to have. All-in-all it's a great environment for any food startup to be in.
