Our Shared Kitchen is a fantastic organization hand delivering fresh, hot meals to unhoused communities around Austin. They truly care about the individuals they serve and make sure every meal is made with nutritious ingredients and dignity. I love volunteering with the meal prep on Saturdays. It has been a great way to get involved in the community and meet new people!
What a wonderful organization to volunteer with! These folks do so much good for the unhoused folks in Austin with their "meet you where you are" model and getting HOT food to folks that can't make it to a fixed point of service. The volunteer experience is great too - lovely group of people helping out on Saturdays, the environment is fun and friendly while still focusing on having a real impact. Can't recommend OSK enough!
I just want to give a huge thanks of gratitude to Our Shared Kitchen because I was a recipient of one of their meals recently as I have been in need after some catastrophic years. I came across one this morning downtown and it was amazing, so not only was it sustenance, it also was clearly portioned to be lasting (fed me all day) and to taste really good. So I am indebted to y'all already and hopefully when back on my feet I would love to donate and be part of it from the other side. Sincere thank you to all y'all involved, today was a blessing. What you do makes a huge difference and just know that it is much appreciated! God Bless~
Love volunteering here. Love all y'all do for the Austin community.
I have a booth at PrepAtx where your company also operate out of. I was approached by a female that works with your company in a very aggressive manner. She questioned me about my push cart as if I stole it! Grabbed the cart saying well, how do you know itβs yours. I replied my marking are on it. After a couple more questions she walked away in anger. I do not know if she confronted anyone else in this manner but as a Black man I felt singled out. A Mexican gentleman was across from me in another booth and witnessed this take place and even commented wow that was rude! When people do others wrong it needs to be made public!
