Our Village Kitchens

We’ve been with Our Village since 2020. We quickly outgrew our cottage food kitchen and were in search of a commercial kitchen space. Jake has been there since day one, every step of the way. He made the transition extremely smooth and stress free for us. I was very nervous about taking the leap from my home bakery with little professional experience. Jake was beyond understanding and patient with me. Irwin Street, now known as Our Village, has been a vital aspect of our success and we are forever honored to call it home. The name ”Our Village” is an honest reflection of the atmosphere here. We really are family oriented. It takes a village, and this village will help take you to wherever you choose to go.

I’ve been with Our Village Kitchens for almost a year, and it truly lives up to its name—it’s a supportive village. The space is clean and convenient, and the staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and affordable. They have truly been a godsend in helping my business grow. We will be forever grateful.

I own a small business and have been a part of the incubator program at Our Village Kitchens (formerly Irwin Street Community Kitchens) for about 2 years. I can honestly say that I never would have turned my baking hobby into a side-business (The Crust of the Matter) had it not been for Jake. He is very passionate about people and products that he believes in; he's a wealth of knowledge and always willing to share it...just an amazing person!! While I am sure there are several businesses that apply for the program, only a select few are chosen. I am so honored that I was invited to be a part of this and now that we have a new home, I am beyond excited about all of the wonderful changes and opportunities that this move has created.

I've been working out of The Village kitchen for a year now. It's been so helpful for me starting my small business. From the initial walk through, to making sure I have all the tools to acclimate to the kitchen, to even helping me out in getting my inspection by the department of agriculture, Jake has set the expectations and set me up for success Jake is the absolute most accommodating person. He is attentive to critique and discussions. If there are concerns or even the slightest hiccup on my production, he had made sure I'm set for the next day. As someone who had no idea what they were doing when they started their own business AND needing direction in where to start, Jake has made this place comfortable and made sure I'm successful. I have a lot of questions and this has been a huge guidance for me. There's other places who I've gone to for tours and there's so much nickel and dimeing and ala carte fees, it can be frustrating when looking for a commercial kitchen. But Village kitchens is straight forward and to the point.

Our Village Kitchens is an amazing resource. Had all of the tools we needed to get started. More importantly, we had access to wisdom and experience from people in the food space. This is a great way to begin your food business journey.
